“I first started going to Jimmy Bowen in 1975. As a matter of fact, I was in the 6th grade when I walked through his doors alone. At this time, his barber shop was located on Kingshighway--- close to Delmar! When I went off to college I would still come home and go directly to Jimmy barber shop. We had so many great meaningful conversation. His voice was smooth and mellow but his knowledge was bigger than life! Yesssirrrr, Jimmy was more than a barber, he was my mentor, my role model, and my friend. I've lived in Chicago since 1990 and I'll still call Jimmy just to say hello.
